Me thinks this guy runs on three cylinders.

The only thing that ran on three that I had was my Kawasaki triple two stroke. Now that was one "runnin'" machine. Wow, that thing was fast - - almost as fast as my Cummins. ;D

ThreeStrokeBob

Re:Happy Happy Happy

Fiver,

I have one of those Nipponese Tractors that runs on 3 cylinders, only has three cylinders. Called a Ferd/New Holland, others like it called Kubota, John Deere. One half of a 6 cyl.

If for cold starting they may over fuel and thereby increase inner cyl temp. That would cause the sound to be diffrerent.

You seem to know quite bit about synthetic oil. I just changed the rear diff oil to synthetic and now I get a slipage noise turning left or right. Took it back to the dealer and he added an additive to reduce the noise. Should I change back to regular oil? 1999 3/4 24V.

Hey Poogan, first post. Let me be first to welcome you to the site. Great place to hang around.

No, stick to synthetic and use the additive. Just takes a little bit - - dealer should know how much to add. It seems the 2003 does not need the additive, but the older ones did.

It would gradually begin dropping cylinders until the truck was idling at about 1100 RPM on 3 cylinders. It did work to keep cylinder heat up, but the truck sounded like someone had punched holes in all the pistons. I hated it.

The 03, or at least mine, simply has a high idle to 1000 RPM that kicks in on start up. All the cylinders are still firing, AFAIK.

Rod
