Got $1200 to spend on 06

Picked up my 2006 quad cab tonight. What a great truck! Replaced a 2005 5.3 GMC Sierra 4 door............Night and day difference in acceleration and 30-60 MPH..

I have an extra $1200 to spend in upgrades..........What would you buy?

Exhaust?
EDGE?
Gauges?

I'm not looking for wheel spinning power, but I wouldn't mind a bit of "go" with an improvement in mileage and drivability. But most important I want this truck to last a LONG time. What can I add to the truck that will accomplish this end?

Thanks in Advance!

I would put an aftermarket straight thru muffler on it, along with some gauges. Fuel pressure and exhaust for sure. Then i would go with either a edge ez or one of the quadzilla modules if your not looking for that much more power. They will give you another 65hp or so and not break the pocketbook. Also a better intake system will also help out. That should be pretty close to what you want to spend. Those mods should also help improve mileage and give the truck alot more throttle response. Good luck.

I had $350 in 3 gauges, $310 for 5" turbo back exhaust, and im sure everyone will tell you to get a smarty or a smarty jr.

that would be right at $1310

Smarty jr.=$500
Gauges=$350
Intake=$300
Cut that muffler and cat off!

Should be a good start! (take the silencer ring out of your turbo when you install the intake and your turbo will sound awesome! love mine!)

PM me if you want a smarty jr. i might sell mine and go back to a smarty sr. because i think im going to dyno my truck b4 long and i want more levels!!

You could get the Bully Dog PMT on ebay for about $900, that would be all your gauges, and on the fly adjustment. Then you could get the Donaldson muffler, which I think is like $75 or something. Then you could do intake if you wanted...........

Gauges, cut off cat and muffler, and save the rest for fuel.

im very happy with my shopdiesel 5" exhaust.

i used to have some aftermarket air intakes but when back to stock becuase i saw little to no effect on mpg, or egts. however on road trips the whistle that sounded so good at first would get annoying.

spending money on exhaust is also not very efficient unless you are wanting alot of hp. i changed mine out because i liked the way it sounds and believe it or not, my egts did decrease a little bit.

i agree with gauges and a straight through muffler, heck pick up a new s&b intake for about $250 or less. as far as what gauges- boost/pyro and tranny if its an automatic. if not get the fuel pressure. smarty jr. be a nice chip to get but if you want to get a cheaper starter chip, get yourself the quad xzt.

There isn't one 'cause they're really not needed on these trucks. They come from the factory with 4" exhaust, which easily supports in excess of 500 h.p. Just replace the muffler with a freer flowing unit or just a straight piece of pipe. Then add a flashy tip if looks matter.

I would go Smarty or Smarty Junior($500-700)
Set of gauges ($300-$400)
Cut the cat off and do a muffler replacement of some kind($100-200)
S&B air intake($270)

Put in a high yield savings account for future fuel purchases.
