Geno's Rostra seat heater wiring question

I am preparing to wire in the seat heaters from Geno's.

Power source.......
I have an amp under my seat with a 4-gauge power supply from the battery. The amp is about 600 watts and only called for a 6-gauge wire, so my wire is oversized. Can I wire my seat heaters off the amp power supply without affecting the amp? Another member on here said he did the same thing.

Switch wiring.......
You can choose to have the switch control the functions of the heater in only one of the following two ways:
1) both back and bottom heaters on with Hi/Low switchable temp settings
2) constant temperature and switch between back or back/bottom

The way you accomplish the change in switch function is by cutting a wire loop that is sticking out of the control box. Obviously you are committed once you cut the wire and mount the control box. Is there any reason I can't wire a second switch into the wire loop so that I can choose between the functions of the main switch?

I'd choose high/low rather than combined/bottom.

If you wire it directly to the battery, will the seat heaters stay on when the truck is shut off? I don't have rostra's because mine has the factory seat heaters but you might want to find out about that. Would suck to find out your seat heaters killed your batteries or started a fire in your interior...

If I am not able to choose the functions with another switch, I'll actually have to pick back or back/bottom because the bottom just makes me too hot and I'd like to run the back pretty much year-round.

For the power source, you want a connection that's always hot because there is a separate ignition wire to hook into something like the cigarette lights so they can only be on when the ignition is on.

Does it use the factory style switch?

Let us know how you like them once installed , I`m wanting to add a set of heaters to my seats...it`s the only option mine didn`t come with , and now I wish I had them.

I know this is probably a stupid question, but is there anyway to put seat heaters in with cloth seats?

you can buy the kit from the dealer for about 300 with tax or you can aftermarket and do it for about 200 plus tax. The mopar set I put in my truck were wired in thru the power outlet and matched the oem buttons like the tpms and the jake brake switch. Good set, little bit of the pain to install.

Seat heaters can go in with cloth seats. I have cloth and am going to put the heating grids between the stock seats and aftermarket seat covers. I have seen mixed results when using factory switches. I am using the switches that came in the kit, but with the factory switches there is an issue of using the correct year of switch because a certain year the switches control the heat output with resistors, whereas you need switches that only control on/off and the heat ouptut is controlled in the Rostra control box.

That`s what I thought when I bought the truck , but all of my other veh. were parked in the garage , and this one doesn`t fit

The leather seats are pretty cold many mornings , and by the time the heater heats the truck up , I`m just about @ work...not to mention I`m not getting any younger , and my back REALLY likes the heated seats in the wifes Magnum

I don't care where ya live, heat is therapeutic. It really helps your back on long trips if you can turn the seats on and relax your muscles.

I'll never own another vehicle without them, even if that means putting in aftermarket ones.
