I HAVE 4.1O GEARS A 6" LIFT ANF 35"s WITH 39'S SOON, WHOUDL IT BE BAD TO SWITCH TO THE 3.73 GEARS? IS THERE SOMTHING I COULD SWITCH TO JUST TO MAKE IT A LITTLE MORE DRIVABLE ON THE H/W?

 

with those size tires, why do you want a higher gear ratio? are you running really high rpm at speed with 35's? 39's will effectively raise you final drive ratio a ton!(lowers cruising rpm). you might be better off going with an overdrive unit instead of changing both gearsets. the price will probably be about the same in the end, but the OD will give you more gear options.

 

I dunno how well you'd like the 3.73's when you put on the 39's. I think 39's and 4.10's would be a fair compromise with the cummins.

the 39's will drop you from abot 1650@ 60mph down to almost 1450....
3.73 would be good for another 100 rpm drop. so unless you cruze @ 80+ all the time it'd be a loosing battle...









fyi 3.73 w/ 39's @ 80 mph is 1800 rpm.....
