For me, it depends on the weather, and if I have any family with me. If it's 110F and my son is with me, I'll hit the high idle and keep the ac on. Also, with the vent mod, it only takes me about 5 minutes to cram 36+ gallons into the tank.

I never shut mine down either.Don't see the point as it doesn't take that long to fill up.

I hit the hi idle, take engine over 1K and keep it running no matter what the temp.

I never shut it off while fueling up. In fact, it usually running for any trips I make into a store that aren't going to take more than 15 minutes. High idle and lock the doors when I get out. I have the ignition key on a quick detach from the rest of the key ring, just for that purpose.

I shut mine down, I fill with the pump on the slowest setting so it takes awhile. Try to keep the foam down.

I guess I am in the minority, I always shut mine down to fill. I do so slowly to keep down the foam and I like to top it off. Never had anyone tell me to shut it down.

I shut mine down. I'm surprised at how many leave their trucks running while fueling. I guess here in the mid-atlantic the weather is never so extreme to require my truck to run constantly for heating or cooling...

It's my understanding that diesel is not like gasoline, which can ignite from static electricity sources, like getting in and out of your vehicle, a cell phone or spilling it on a hot cat. Tell the attendant to chill out, diesel isn't nearly as dangerous when it comes to refueling. Truckers do it all the time.

I never shut mine off. I carry two keys so I can lock it if I have to go inside.

I almost always shut down. The couple of times I haven't shut er down I get weird looks. California has way to many holier than thou types anyway.

You know I use to do this, until I didn't put my key back on the ring and lost it. Not that hard to loose a single key alone, was not fun!

I do get weird looks when I leave mine run, high idle+ strait pipe isn't exactly quiet

I rarely shut mine off when filling.

I have remote start so I can leave it running and take the keys with me. Put foot on the brake and the truck shuts down. Can't drive it away without the key.
