Fuel Level Sender went out

Ok this is probably a dumb question, but my fuel level sender went out and I am having trouble getting the electrical connector loose on top of the fuel tank. Is there a trick to getting it loose? Does the electrical connector on top of the tank control the fuel level sender and the fuel pump because I only see one electrical connector there?

Remove bed bolts and raise it up and block it, then reach in and get it.

IIRC there is a small plastic slide lock on the top of that electrical connector. You have to slide that all the way over then it will release the connector when you depress it. Yes I believe its the only electrical connection the the sending unit.

If your going to replace the sending unit you might want to just go ahead and either drop the tank or remove the bed. It will make removing the sending unit easier and if you want to go ahead and install an aftermarket fuel pump (FASS, Airdog, etc) then now would be the time to do it.

With the risk of start a war, what aftermarket fuel pump is better to get? Is one easier to install than the other (require less motifications or none)?

I like my fass hplp. They were the only ones that replied to me stating their pump would work at -40. Everyone else did not reply to my emails asking for info.
