Well my question is this

if we only have a 34 gallon tank when I fill up i can get 32 gallons or so.
With the tank mod your telling me I will get 40 gallons?
If that is the case then if I only put 32 gallons in then no, it has yet to be fixed.

If it has been corrected you can fill the diesel up to the rim and see it in the filler neck with no effort at all.

I think the amount it can add varies a little from truck to truck. But it should add about 4 to 5 gallons of extra capacity.

I just ran mine down to the wrong side of the E red line today. it was 32 gallons to the first click. I don't have 20 minutes to waste clicking in another 5 gallons, so I left it. If you look at the fuel tank on the 07, the vent is in the same place it has always been. When it is moved up to the highest point (fuel tank vent mod), you get the extra capacity. I have done it on my last 2 CTD's and will probably do it on this one as well.

As stated before, when you install the vent mod, you will be able to fill it to the filler neck taking advantage of the full volume. Another nice feature of the vent mod is that the fuel guage stays above full for over 100 miles due to the extra fuel capacity.

Fill

I can't afford to let mine go below 1/2 a tank so it does not take long to fill. $2.60 a gallon.

They all fill just fine, even with the big truck pumps, until the first click, but that wasn't the original question. He was asking about topping it off. If you want to see fuel at the filler neck, then it takes 20 minutes of click...click...click...click. With the vent mod, you can add an extra 5 gallons of fuel without the top-off time. You can see the fuel in the filler neck.

Personally, I agree. There's no way I'm standing at a fuel pump for twenty minutes squeezing an extra 5 gallons. The mod is a timesaver though, because it saves me trips to the truck stop. I average 3 fills a week, so it saved me 2 stops a month on my last 2 trucks with the extra capacity.

From what I've gathered is that you can fill your tank to 34 gallons... if you want to push the limits past what the engineers of the truck determined to be capacity for that tank, then you can spend $40 and a few hours and jerry rig your tank so it can hold a few more gallons...

seems like a huge hassle to be able to drive 550 vs 500 miles on a tank, if you only fill up a few times a month, like me...

The "engineers" that determined the capacity for the tank were designing it for gassers....not diesel. Dodge just didn't want to change it if it is saving them money.

It is definately an optional type thing if you want to do it. But, I like having an extra almost 100 miles of cruising range and knowing im filling my tank up to the rim...(same amount each time for calculating mileage).

To me it was worth it to pull the tank and look around in it and see how they designed it. Also to do this mod to it too....https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=117209

If you have an 05 or later truck with an in-tank fuel pump you will probably have to pull the tank anyway if you plan to upgrade to an aftermarket fuel pump. These mods might as well be done then while it's down.
