Fuel conditioner help

So it's starting to get cold around here I have a few questions...

1. Should I plug the heater in on my truck even though it will only be driven once a month or so?
2. What do I need to put in my fuel tank over the winter to keep from having fuel problems?
3. What do you guys use during the summer months for fuel conditioner and how often.
4. How hard is it to change fuel filter and how often?
5. Also I have cut out the muffler and the Converter, any ideas on some more cheap mpg and hp stuff to do? I seen one guy talking about turbo silencer? What is that and will it hurt to come out.

Thanks for the help and the nice website!

I would not waste the electricity. I would just plug it in the night before I planned on starting and driving it. You can put up to about 20% kerosene in it, but I think they dye it now to show no road tax paid. So I would just go to a parts store or truck stop and get Diesel Power in the white bottle and read how much to add. I use B-20 year round, you cannot buy a better lubricity improver. You actually only need ? couple or 3 gallons in a tank to accomplish this. In winter, if it is going to be in teens, I use aforementioned diesel power. Fuel Filter is very easy to change, I think there is a good write up with pics on here, and wish I could remember who did it, because they did a great job, you can find it easily enough with search function. -- - - - - - - - -You should get a Baldwin PF 7977 fuel filter - The best and about 11 or 12 bucks. It is a 5 micron. Removing the silencer ring will do nothing but make your turbo whistle louder. Not much I know about more mpg except proper tire inflation and don't drive over 65 or 2000 rpm, mine falls off then. Hope this helps.

I use it every tank, but it is same price here as other diesel. If it is unhandy for you just get some when you are near it, it doesn't take much for the lubricity effect.
