Front end knuckle ball joints

My front end has drove me nuts for months with a knocking noise when going over pot holes and bumps in the road. I have narrowed it down to either the pitman arm or the ball joints that attach to the knuckle from the axle housing. What is the procedure to remove and install the two ball joints from the axle housing and how difficult is it to do. I am a ticketed Heavy equipment mech, but this is my first dodge as was converted from chev. I don't want to tear into it and then have the truck down for days because I wasn't prepared. So any info would be appreciated.
Thanks
Troy.

Ok....Save the torch for a last resort course of action.

Give this a read and that should answer most of your questions for replacing the ball joints.

Good luck with that C clamp thing. I had a 4 ton portapower in there and started to bend the knuckle. I got out the torch and they were out in minutes and the new ones dropped right in while the hole was still warm.
