Front end clunk, NO MORE!!

After hearing and feeling a clunk in the front drivers side, I could never find the source of it and always checked trackbar, bushings, swaybar, shocks, blah, blah...endless. The clunk was right in front of my eyes I just never saw it. My coilspring under compression hits my track bar mount on the truck frame and found that the spring itself has some damage to it. Boy am I glad I found that. I did some grinding on the mount and went and hit some bumps and turns with bumps and it's not there any more. Waaaaahooooooooooooooo!!!

Glad you found that gremlin. Any idea what caused the coil to hit the mount in the first place?

I'm thinking once my coilsprings broke in, they were a little more fat and they are 6" coils so they are a little thicker too.

Yep, I have the clunk too. I have factory springs so I can't imagine that I felt the same as TXARROWHUNTER. Mine feels like it is in the steering box maybe. Mostly over little bumps at speeds under 4o mph. It drives me nuts. Changed shocks, trackbar, I can't figure it out. I had the updated steering assembly put on also and it is still there.

I've got a thud that comes through the steering wheel too. I'm leaning towards the steering box or shaft since the ball joints weren't targeted to be on the fritz during the steering upgrade.
