While impatiently waiting for the new ride to arrive :'( I was checking out a new one in a parking lot and noticed the lack of inner fenders. This rings a bell from posts in the past - but I really didn't realize what they were talking about. There is NOTHING on the inside of the fender :-[. At your Dodge dealer. Maybe you can work them into the deal. I think they run around $75 for the pair.<br><br>Casey

 

Possibly I am missing the point, but my farily recent Chebby and all the Ferd trucks I look at in the parking lots don't have any liners either. My very old 1993 Chebby doesn't; and we use it on the farm everyday. No rust, and it makes for easy cleaning of the mud from all areas around the rear wheels. <br><br>Now what do you do with liners, I am sure mud and water get up behind those liners, but you don't have easy access to cleaning those areas, do you? <br><br>So why liner anyway? I assume my new 03 won't have liners, and I am not sure I want them either?<br><br>Educate me.

The Mopar rear wheel liners part number is 82207367 (pair). List $89.00. I had them installed on mine before I picked it up. My cost was $76.65. I think they are a must add-on. Don't leave home without them. ;D

 

Are you talking about the front fenders, the rear fenders or both? My 1996 has them in the front but not in the rear. What is the down fall with them missing in the front?

Sometime prior to 03, Dodge trucks had a full rear wheel liner as standard equipment. My 99 had them and it made for a very neat appearance, as well as protection from mud, gravel etc. that is slung by the tires. Now on the 03s, the full liners are optional, not standard, which is simply some cost cutting by the bean counters (a bunch of BS in my opinion!)

There are other things too like underhood light and insulation that the new trucks don't have that are just penny pinching. Although I have heard that the underhood light will be available again soon.

2002 is when they lost the rear wheel well liners. My 01.5 had them and the hood insulation. The new one is so quiet that it does not need the insulation. It just got caked with salt on the 01.5.

 

The wheel liners set the Ram apart. I have them on my '96, and they keep the gravel from nicking the sheet metal in the upper part of the wheel wells that causes corrosion. I should think anyone living in an area where they put salt on the roads would like this feature. Thankfully in Oregon all the salt is in the Pacific (we use chains in the snow), but I like haviing liners none the less, even though trucks here never rust except on the coast. The new trucks without them look ugly. DC should have kept them and boasted about the benefits. They've also cut back on the amount of body side moulding. A strip used to run end to end, but now they only cover the doors and a little bit of the bed.

 

MR BILLY . My 03 F250 has the liners , stock. Having said that, I don't really think that they are a neccessity. In fact they may even be a moisture trap . Holding in things like mud and salt.<br> All the best , John

 

When I test drove a 03 before I ordered mine I took it down a gravel road just like the one I live on. All the small stones rattling on the back of the cab sounded like some one shooting buck shot at me. Put the liners back on the trucks DC.<br> ;D Al

It is the SRW part number. I knew this part number because they were installed on mine which is a SRW. Will have to check on the DRW part number.
