Partsgeek has them, Timken P/N HA590000 for $186 with free shipping. That's the hub with bearing installed assembly.
I tried to get my old one out just to see what the bearing looked like inside. First I went up to 20 tons and it didn't move. Then I quickly heated the outer hub and tried again. No way.
The few dollars you might save by buying the bearing alone isn't worth the hassle to me. Buying the hub, you get a nice new rust free hub, studs ABS ring and bearing already installed.
The reason I wanted to get a look is because I didn't feel any roughness from the outer bearing when moving it by hand. The truck made a slight noise on the left side on right hand turns only which indicated to me that the left outer bearing was going bad. When I pulled it off you could see rub marks on the ABS ring and sensor which, I guess, is due to looseness in the bearing assembly and seems to have been the source of the noise. Nothing else loose to cause the interference and replacing the hub solved the problem. I did take the inner snap ring out to pop the inner bearing and seal out but the only problem was a rusty look near the seal and on the outer half of the bearing. I still haven't been able to get to the outer bearing apart.
I think somewhere in the deep dark recesses of dtr, I've posted this before, but I can't recall.
Anyway. When you install your new unit bearings/hubs, pop the abs sensor out,and put a tablespoon of Amsoil or equivalent synthetic 75w90 gear oil in there, then plunk the sensor back in.
Finish your install and drive happily ever after.
On my 01, the original bearings let loose very early on, first one in less than 35000 km. Second one not long after. I dropped the gear oil in the new ones when I installed them. 303k, and they haven't made a peep yet.
Does anybody happen to know the bolts/nut sizes? Axle nut, caliper bolts, and the 4 hub bolts on the back. Wanna make sure I have all my stuff together

First time I have ever heard of doing this with gear lube. I've heard of pumping synthetic moly grease through the ABS sensor hole though.
ok guys cut apart a bearing off an 02 today , grease will get to both bearrings through the ABS hole , I remember reading alot of contraversy on this and not sure if it had been proven yet or maybe has , now i just gota find a older style wit no abs and cut it apart
Mine just started making noise , during turns, that familiar sshhushh shussh , on the brake pads or whatever, anybody know how long they can make that sound before the bearings go up in smoke ?
I ordered these SKF X-traker bearings from rockauto, $341 for both, but it will take 3 days for them to get here, can I still drive the truck in the mean time ?
So far it only makes noise when turning , anybody ?
Hello , Feedback on the SKF X hubs , I installed the first one in 2018 , nice piece, it has been on for 4 years now , about 50,000 miles and is still going strong , second side was installed last year , 20,000 miles and going strong.
I took out the sensor and added about 4 strokes of red grease to my hubs before installing, I rotated the hub and wiped excess from to get the grease off of the tone ring , I have no check engine lights , they work great .
I would definitely recommend them to anyone , good quality unit !!
