Have you checked the rear axle bearings? I have seen them cause a clicking sound in the past.

I haven't gotten that far into it.....yet!!! I still feel like the noise is more toward the front of the truck. If the tires aren't the problem then it has to be either a u-joint or a unit bearing. With the truck off the ground it won't make the noise. That's why I'm thinking joint or bearing......weight and load on the afflicted part. Just a PITA trying to diagnose and find it by myself.

Well the tire rotation did the trick!!!!!!!!! Apparently the cords or belts or whatever were causing the popping sound. Guess new tires are my future ......nothing like spending money huh?

Anyhow, problem solved!!!! Thanks for all the responses.

Put the new Bilsteins on last night....we'll see if that helps with the tire wear issue. Seems the tires ARE starting to let go. The old shocks still had a little "ooomph" left in 'em, but not much so maybe that was contributing to the problem.

Tires will do some crazy things. I had a buddy with a jeep that would shake violently side to side if you were at 50 mph. If you were driving two mph over or under it was just fine.

What sucks about it is the fact that the tires are about 4 yrs old or so but they still have lots a tread left on them. I got the 4 bad ones on the rear now and will keep my fingers crossed they hold up and not take out a fender until I can get some news ones.

Ahhhh... They give those fenders away, no big deal. What brand of tires are they?

They might give 'em away but it's a lot easier for me just to keep the ones I have!!

The tires are Hankook DynaPro M/T's. Been a really good tire up until a few months ago.....used to be very quiet on the highway till the lugs started cupping and now it sounds like I've got a set of Swampers on her!!

Wow, all I can say about the new shocks is........Bilstein is obviously doing something right!!!! They are night and day different from the old Monroe Reflex jobbers I took off. Hopefully they will help solve my tire wear issue.
