Dual Rear Wheels Pulled Mud Flaps Off

I had the factory black Dodge Ram mud flaps installed on my 3500 03. With my 40' Goosneck Trailer hooked up they only sat about 3" off the ground. When I was backing up something must have pushed them into the tires. Needless to say both were pulled of along with large chunks of the dual rear wheel covers. I have it back now from the body shop minus the mud flaps. What do you think is the best way to handle discharge from the wheels? Maybe a skirt like you see on RV's?

Are you saying part of the dually fender was pulled away? I guess I am a bit confused as to what was damaged besides the mud flaps. I have mine mounted on steel brackets attached to the body metal. But they are J&J Enterprises flat ones with a very sturdy bracket.

Get a set of NorthWest Custom mudflaps! They are offset to help eliminate that problem.

I got the same factory flaps and a 40' trailer like you and never have had a problem at all. May be it is just the extra height of the 4x4 vrs the 4x2

I have low flaps and to prevent the same problem I have used a 1/4 " cable with a small loop in it to restrain the flap. The cable fits through a 5/16 x 7/16 laser cut slot in the flap (with a 1/2 x 3" 304 s/s stud through the loop in the cable) on one end and the other end attaches to the truck body.

No more lost flaps. Period.
