Driving Lights

OK guys I need some help on a goofy one. 2 weeks back I installed some KC slim lites on my bumper and they worked great, install was nice and easy. But now they don't work and it has me scratching my head. I am using my high beam wire to fire the relay, fairly straight forward system. The relay works well, it seems to be doing it's thing but here is where it gets wierd. Neither of my lights work, but both of them have power going through the bulb and out the ground wire. When I use my light tester on the ground wire it is hot, it will go dead if I unplug the power wire to the bulb. Both lamps do it independantly, but when I pull the bulbs and run 'em right off the batt they light up nicely. Any idea what's up? Could my relay be fried, maybe the contact on the high amperage side is insufficient to light the lamps but enough to light my test light?

Check ground..... A bad ground will still read voltage on both sides of the bulb, but you will not have any current flow, meaning your lights wont light.

good luck.

The wierd thing is even when I disconnect the ground wire from the chassis, there is still power there.

Yeah what DuaneWKKC said. If what you said is correct, then you don't have a ground. You should NOT have 12v on the ground side of the lamps at any time. What is happening is when you use one of those light testers you groung on side and then check for hot, whick is exactly what you get HOT 12v on the ground side of the lamps.
Run your ground wirh directly to the batteries to make sure you don't have that problem again.

I think you guys are on to something. I ran a jumper wire quickly at lunch and things seemed to go back to normal. Now I just need to get my brain wrapped around what changed in the last 2 weeks. Thanks for the help.
