Drilling for pre-turbo pyro probe

I have seen on the exhaust manifold flange where to drill and tap for the pyro probe on various posted pictures, but can't see how to drill it. My 1/2" drill without the bit installed would barely fit for drilling horizontally into the exhaust manifold. I just don't see how to to it. How did others do it on these '03'S. Do I need some type of 90 degree adapter for my drill? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I did mine when I was installing the jake brake, so I had the wheel off and the inner fender liner. You can get right at it then. fender liner comes right off with 5-6 bolts...thats the way to do it.

Yep, small air drill. Fender liner works too, but I was lazy that day.

Re:Drilling for pre-turbo pyro probe

Project for the week, Install Pyro. Let's see which drill should I use. Sounds like my 3/8 Makita cordless angle drill, or maybe my 3/8 Makita 110V. 1/2 Skill 110V hammer drill is too big. Dewalt 12V cordless and Makita 9V cordless are too big. Shucks any of these would work if they made a shorter drill bit. I ain't drillin thru a 4 x 4 post this time, just a manifold flange. Ever wonder why the larger the diameter of the bit, the longer it hasta be?
Re:Drilling for pre-turbo pyro probe

If the drill bit is too long, break it off to the length you want. You many have to rotate it a few times in the chuck to stop the wobble. Or break it off close to the shank and sharpen it to a new point. Either way you can end up with a drill that is only an inch longer than the chuck. Prefer using the shank and resharpening myself.
