Question Doors that unlock themselves!

Since the weather has turned cold I have noticed something that irritates me about my 2008 Ram. I was running into a store real quick and I wanted to leave my truck run, but I wanted to lock the doors while I went in (I had my other set of keys to get me back in). So I left the key in the ignition and the truck running got out and with my other key hit the lock button and the door would not lock. I then used the key in the door lock on the outside and it would not stay locked. I then opened the door and pushed the lock **** down and shut the door and it popped back up. I then just walked in the store with the truck unlocked. So my question would be is there away to disable this self lock feature so that I can leave the truck running and locked?

Thanks
Brian

I don't know if you can, but check the overhead. I got rid of the horn toot when locking and unlocking with it. Good luck.

I don't know if it will work on the 08, but on my 97 and 04, I use the remote to lock the door after getting out of the truck and they lock. I just take the remote off my key chain and take it in the store with me.

On the 2008 the remote is integrated into the key (which I hate). On my older trucks I did exactly what you said and it worked great.

maybe try to push the lock down when the door is open and hold the handle out when you close the door

Watch out now that the weather is warmer. I know of a guy in edmonton that walked away from his truck and he turned around cause he herd something. Turns out his doors unlocked. So he locked them again and after he did this again, the opened again once he was like 10-15 feet from the truck. He went back and as he was walking back he looked over his hood to see these punks with some sort of scanner and they were pickin up his remote signal and reopening his truck once he walked away. So just a word of warning lock you doors manually and use a key cause it might cost you alot more than you think.

On my 06 I fool the truck by locking all of the doors with the button, then pull up the **** on the drivers door before I open it. After I open the door I push down the **** and close the door. This is the only way to keep them all locked. It took me a lot of trial and error to figure it out.
