door light switch

The driver's side rear door dome light switch has apparently quit working.
Open the door and the light will not come on and the truck does not recognize if the door is left open.

I want to fix the thing but.......I cannot find the switch.

Where is it?

The switch mechanism is in the latch itself...
That being said, I would pull back the rubber boot and CLOSELY inspect the wiring in the door jamb. It is a KNOWN problem area that causes door speakers, locks, windows, etc. to not function. The wires are small and fragile. If you find one or more wires damaged, repair using quality butt splices that have the heat shrink ends...

I'd put money on it being in the wires in the rubber boot.

This truck has had a couple issues with the interior harness on the left side of the vehicle. In addition to this door switch issue, the wire that feeds the front passenger side over head light goes up the driver's side a-pillar and has a dead short somewhere over the head liner. It started blowing fuses. Have not pulled the headliner yet to find the short because I BROKE the bulb holder trying to find out where that short was.....NOTE...you can't get that dang bulb hold anywhere except from similar truck in the salvage yard. Yanking the headliner and finding the short will do me no good till I get the bulb holder. Luckily there is a plug in that wire in under the a-pillar cover so I quit blowing fuses.

I located my rear dome light intermittent problem at the dome light itself. The plug in wire connector at the back of the light had loose pin contacts. tightened them and now it works every time.
