Door jam rubber problems???

Do any of you guys have issues with your door jam rubber seals? I have seen a few trucks that have had really chewed up door seals right about where the rear view mirrors are. Many of you may not have even noticed.

Stand at the front tire and have someone else open the door for you and watch what happens. Is your door ripping the rubber seal away every time you open and close it??? Mine is.

If anyone has had this issue and taken it in to the dealer, how did they fix it? Do they simply replace the rubber seal or did they actually adjust the swing of the doors?

Seems like it's an ongoing pain in the rear!

Any suggestions?

Good question, I was gonna ask the same thing. I Didn't notice it on my first one, but I did notice it on this one about a week ago. Seems especially bad on the passenger side. The door is rubbing the heck out of the seal.

I've heard of other members replacing the seals, but to me, this seems like a design flaw with the way the door is engineered. I'm gonna try putting some type of lubricant on the problem area to see if it will help minimize the damage.

I read a post just the other day about this problem. I don't remember if it was on this site or another one. It said there was a TSB out on this .
I checked mine, and I don't see anything wrong yet>

if only one of your jams are going south dont tell the dealer untill you ruff up the other one a little or they will only replace one
usually the drivers side since its used the most
and by the time the pass. side goes bad youll be out of warrentee

Mine was torn after only 1000 miles!
I showed my dealer and they ordered one from the Service Bulletin TSB 23-008-04. The "new improved" replacement is currently on national back-order and may not be available for a few more weeks.

Mine is doing it on the driver's side and I only have 1000 miles on it. Plan to take it in for repair soon. Putting a small dab of grease or armor all helps a little.

Geez, I just spray silicon (yellow can from Wally world or Amsoil FoodSpray grade Silicone) on the rubbers every month. Once you hear the door rubbing the seals(the seals are telling you they're dry), just spray them and the noise will go away, make the rubber plyable so they don't rip...I spray the rubber around the windows and inside the window jams too...

just my 02 cents worth.

Both my doors the edge point jabs (not rubs) directly into the seal and ripped a 1/2" hole in them. Passenger side only used maybe 20 times so far. Truck is 6 weeks old. Building a list before visit to the dealer.
Keep them TSB's coming as they are great for info sharing and learning at the dealers.

Hey,

I took my truck in to the dealer today for the tearing seals. They ordered a new seals for both the passenger and driver side. Apparently this is a VERY common problem. The new seal is supposed to be shaped slightly different and made out of a stronger material from what I read on one of these forums.

I had my seals replaced on both sides per the TSB without any problems. I did however notice when it rains it seems to let extra water fall into cab when you open the door

Noticed this on my truck yesterday and once again the forums have answered my questions before I can post them. These sites are great!!!

I was thinking of putting silicone spray that I use on my 5er slide on it to see if it would help but it's raining here as usual. So I have to wait till it quits. Maybe next year??? Where I live it seems to rain while the rest of the state stays dry.
