Dome lights and radio????
Evenin' Folks!
Been quite a while since I stopped by here but I have a problem that I can't seem to pinpoint. Searching hasn't come up with a solid lead on a fix yet either.
My radio is staying on after I remove the key AND open the door. It used to stay on for 5-10 minutes UNLESS you opened the drivers door then it would shut off immediately.
I have also noticed that since the radio/door issue started, the dome light doesn't work with the drivers door open. The dome light does work from the passenger door an driver's rear door. It isn't working from the passenger rear but that appears to be a wire issue in the rubber boot to that door.
I'm thinking that my radio/dome light issue is a door open switch but haven't been able to find much talk about anything similar.
Anyone have any similar issues they fixed or other ideas?
TIA!

That's on my list to check out but I was just curious if anyone else had had a similar problem and found a fault somewhere. Most dome light issues seem to involve the rear doors and the associated door jam harnesses.

Dome lights and radio????
Broken wire in the door jam.....

Looks like the speaker wires were repaired before I bought the truck....
Pulled the harness out of the door then repaired the broken wire. I also noticed that several other wires had some cracked insulation. They got retaped and put back in as well.
At least if you get a major failure of the door harness it can be removed completely at the door jam and replaced or rebuilt on the bench...
