I just picked up an 06 that has a dealer installed ($1500) security plug thinkgy in it....They took it off the cost of the vehicle and they didn't remove it.
Anyone have an idea of where/how it's plumed into the system??
I'm picking up a remote start to p[ut in and want to get rid of this fisrt to make sure it doesn't interfere.

A good installer should be able to integrate it into the remote starter. Then you can have the best of both worlds. Leave the truck on valet run, and set the security system while running inside a convenience store for example.

 

that's the prob...there's no user manual for it.
I think it's a scam for the dealer to get $$$!
I don't want the head aches when I put in the Remote start that will do everything I need.
From what I see, anyone could do the same thing with a few wire taps and a plug....

 

The installers at a reputable shop can get the information or trace the wiring I would think.....they can retrieve wire color code information for all kinds of vehicles.
