Did i just screw up my hydroboost?

New to the forum here. Yesterday i got a whooshing sound under the dash when steering. Topped off the power steering fluid with power steering fluid. Later last night, i read i should have used ATF4. I plan to flush the system tonite but im cincerned i may have done some damage with 8 oz of ps fluid i put in then drove 60 miles. I have an 07 ram 2500 5.9 ctd.

Flushed the system out last night. Topped off the ATF4. Still have the hissing sound. Checked the hydroboost hoses for the notorious teflon liner problem but dont have any liner showing or sticking out of the hoses. Any ideas?

It's a known issue.

There's a plastic tube inside the hose that causes this noise. You'll need to replace the hoses.

Your best bet would be to contact a hydraulic shop to see if they can do it for you. I had mine replaced when I added an engine driven compressor and the lines are rated for something like 4000 psi, which is WAY more than you'll ever need.

I unhooked the hose at the booster and pulled out the plastic liner and reconnected the hose. The plastic tube was stuck in the booster..... (pliers worked well to pull it out in 1 piece) Hissing went away and never came back.

That was 4 years and many many miles ago. No leaks and the brakes/steering are still working correctly.

You put the hose back on without the plastic tube inside and all has been well or pulled out and put back in?
