Once again can anybody verify this condition happening to a dually?? I know it can affect any truck...but specifically has it happened to a dually?

My 05 dually has experienced two episodes of death wobble in the last 6 weeks.,both times I was towing a trailer loaded with horses.I was running 65/70 and hit a big dip in the pavement and the truck just went crazy, trailer whipping side to side felt like the wheels were coming off. This is a scary and I believe very dangerous
problem,I'm aware that it happens with other trucks, but I believe the Dodge has some inherent design problems or the design is ok,and they use cheap parts.I had pretty much ignored the Death wobble posts until it happened to me.

To follow up,my truck is bone stock,70k miles, the tires are wearing correctly, steering is tight,no pull in either direction,I suspect the front shocks may be worn out, it bangs pretty hard over moderate bumps.

Well I'm gonna have to just take it easy and be careful then. In the past I've always kinda took it easy with those kind of loads anyway...about 55-65 depending on load.

The 06 may not have this problem. I think they have changed the suspension and steering somewhat for 06.,Wonder why?? lol

Mine does/did the same thing. took it to a alignment guy and my steering gear was wore out. had to replace the steering box. from what he said the stock steering box is actually a GM unit that dodge buys. the unit is not big enought to handle the heavy front ends of the cummins, they use the same box for all the trucks 1500 through 3500. something has got to change.

The only experience with a DW is on our 96 Ford PS Dually that would go into a DW every so often. After I inspected the front end I found the steering dampner to be shot, replaced and have not a problem since.-Frog

Guys, I've never had DW on my dually and if anyone should have it would be me. Heavy loads off road on logging roads.....rock solid. 03's have a better track bar than 04 and 05's I've heard. The cure is a good set of shocks Bilstein or better....not ranchos. I had Ranchos on my F350 04 and it DW on rollers so I removed the steering stabilizer and it was ok....That thing was a piece of junk off a pinto. There is a steering box brace that does wonders....If I had a hint of a problem it would be on there....do a search and let us know. I want to put that brace on as it supposedly stops some front end vibration and solves some tire wear problems. ks
