Ridgetop, on the steps, I like to make a bigger (like 3") top tube that almost touches the body. That way, it's like a slider in that sense. Then I come off that with some 1 1/4" tube for the steps (add some perforated or tread plate for grip). It's not that different from other designs except for the top bar hiding closer to the body.

thanks! It's 3/16 plate, with 1/2 brackets and grille guard uprights, 1/4 on the grille guard tubes, and the light guards are solid stock

How did you get the bumper lines straight? Did you make a jig? Also did you make a mock up out of some sort of plywood or some sort of card board?

every line you see is a cut/weld, the only template i made out of card board for the upper wings around the headlights, other than that i just cut and tacked till i got my angles for one side then copied it to the other
