Re:curb weight?

Bulabula, Nevada's weights were for 3500, your signature inditates you have 2500. Curb wt for 2500 HO quad 4 x 4 short bed is 6890# so you must of had 190# of fuel and gear on board. 8)

Re:curb weight?

Mine 6390# curb wt, short 1 1/2 qts GL-5 synthetic. I should subtract 3#. Mine should be 6390# - 3# = 6387#

Re:curb weight?

Phil, not sure what/how DC figures a single dry weight to speak for an entire make of vehicle (which is prob impossible what with the myriad of options available), but my truck weight as I noted, included 34 gallons of fuel; at about 8lbs/gal translates to 272 extra pounds.

I don't think the 70 pounds of air in each front tire and 50 in the rears counts. I had the keys in my pocket.

That weight was as she left the dealers lot. Scales are certified. The numbers in the book are probably "ball park" figures and close enough for govt work.

Re:curb weight?

These wts are from official data release by D-C. They take into consideration cab style, bed length, whether 4 x 4 or 4 x 2, type engine, type transmission, etc. As an example automatic 47RE tranny weighs 50# less that 5 speed NV4500 tranny. Vehicles equipped with HO and 6 speed tranny weigh 145# more than SO with 5 speed tranny. Curb wt is the official weight of vehicle. It is used by some states in setting registration fees. As an example in Calif. if the curb wt is less than 6K# and the person has a Disabled license on vehicle, it is exempt from weight fees assessed vehicles. The only 2003 Ram Diesels now exempt are 2500, reg. cab, 2wd, with automatic, 5977# curb wt. Wt fees for 2500 are approx $150 for 2500.
