Any body use these for winter / plowing? Thinking about gettng a set to run this winter.....

 

I have used this tire for 8 years (not same set...lol)
awsome in the snow but a little flex in hard turns.
definately take them off when snow is gone though...wear very FAST on dry pavement...soft compound

 

I run them studded on work vans...

They work very well...

265/70/R17's are the only E-rated tire they have though...

If that's the size you want, I say...good choice.

Not what your asking but, Discoverer STT 285 70 17 are wearing pretty good and were great in the snow last year. Sidewall treatment makes em look tough also.
Couldn't power slide em, have to stand on it to make the truck come around.

Maybe a decent compromise.

 

I plow with them... STUDDED Nice snow tire but WEAR FAST! I made the mistake of playing with my new boost fooling settings on my smarty. I went through a little over 1/4 of my rear tire tread just driving hard on the on ramps in only a WEEK! I saw it and almost cried. They are expensive. (to me) No burn outs or anything just hard throttle did it.

Not to hot in the corners and the studs make noise. The deep groove self cleans well.

I have only gotten stuck 2x with em. I would like to find a longer wearing snow tire 2 seasons is about it with these. I am a good deal more than 1/2 way to the wear marks and won't make the season with them. :-(

Toss 1/2 a ton in the back and with my locker in the front I'm good to go.. The TrackRite GT is useless on ice but on snow with some grip it will lock the rear... but on ice ZERO power shifts to the wheel with traction. I was really not happy at all with this! Stock the truck is useless in ice and a lot of snow conditions.

I get ice on 1/2 of my driveway which is a hill. I would, even in 4 wheel drive, not be able to make it up. I would be spinning both tires on the right side on the ice and I would be slowly going down the hill backwards as NO power would shift to the wheels on the left side on clean DRY PAVEMENT!

No snow on the ground just some thin smooth ice on the right side of the driveway. Even with 4 studded snow tires I could not make it. I was hoping the studs would grip just enough to activate the TrackRite GT and shift power to the other side or lock them. But no such luck!

Dirt does and most snow does let the TrackRite do it's job.. Unless it is the kind of snow that compacts and is wet, turning to a hard ice like surface. (that real good snowman snow.) That snow will compress and be hard enough so the tires will spin and not activate the rear end to lock or shift power to the other wheel. Very frustrating.

This was VERY problematic when plowing since this is a common occurrence here in NH with ice on 1/2 of a driveway or hill as it's in the shade most of the day. I better clutch posi would help a LOT.. I put in an Eaton E-locker in the front. This helps a lot.

If I get stuck I raise my plow up all the way, engage the e-locker and slowly release my clutch. If I am not top dead centered with packed snow up under my skid plate or under my plow mounting hardware I can usually get out of most anything. The weight of the plow and the motor helps to provide more traction. The rear if I have the 1/2 ton of pellet fuel loaded up in the back also works well. A real tank!

 

I love my Discoverer ATRs overall but especially in the snow. Had dad put them on the Powerchoke plow truck after seeing how well mine did. He has the 265s and I had NO trouble last year pushing snow on some nasty drifted steep lanes. It sucks having to give up my truck when it snows for his turd to push snow. I can't knock it too bad though - it sure does get the job done. He gets the better end of the deal though - at least i know he can bring it to pull the Ford out if it gets stuck...
