Console Vault quality question...
Console Vault quality question...
Hello Ladies & Gentlemen,
Maybe a few of you with the Console Vault can offer some insight to this product. I just recieved my vault and preceded to install it in the truck. Well, the right side plate was loose/moving and upon inspecting it there is only a few tack welds to hold it in place! Tack welds are on the left side plate also though not broken welds. Do I have a "made on Friday" vault that someone forgot to put a full bead on? It is a great concept, but tack welds for the side plates? Yes it is true that you can't see the side plates when the vault is installed but I don't want someone to stick a screw-driver between the seam, have the tack welds break, and give the "bad guys" hope that the vault can(and maybe will) be pryed out!
Any insight before I ship this thing back.
Thanks as this forum has been very helpful to me and my new truck(Inferno red Mega cab).

Greetings,
In answer to 'nevems2ret'- a console vault is a lockable steel case that is mounted under the front bench seat, middle person, bottom cushion. It is a great concept for storing valuables in your truck. I purchased it through the vendor Geno's garage.
In response to D.Wiggs- thanks for checking your vault to see if you have the same condition. I actually called Geno's garage today and Ben indicated that I might indeed have an unfinished unit and they would ship another vault out today! Now that is customer service! It appears as though indeed I have a 'made on Friday(as people rush to leave work for the weekend)' unit. Once Geno's garage has the original unit back in their hands, I will let you know their conclusion. Ben thought that a bead on the side plates was/is not there because a tack weld is considered strong enough? Does anyone with welding experience have an opinion on could/should this vault be constructed differently?
Thanks.
Thanks.
