considering A CLEAN 03 trade for my 05

I found a sweet 3500 slt 2003 longbed quadcab 6speed,4x4 with the Ho 5.9
its only got 89000 not bad really clean for this miles.

its very nice has some things mine dont but its also older so kinda a wash there I think, depends I guess, Only thing I dont like about it is that its RED. I dont like red. but Its a REALLY nice Clean truck, just wondering what you guys think I forgot the build date of it, I just remember that its an 03.
It shifts really nice and smooth dont seem to be any syncro probs as of driving yesterday 4x4 works goos smooth (floor shift) It has the Cummins Brake so pretty sure that was a factory option that this truck got (being up here not supprized) works great, also has fast Idle, Its basically been up here most all its life and well taken care of from what I can see. the engine dont look as clean as I keep mine but dont look like anything been messed with either.

No in bed hitch just the tail hitch looks like its had some use but there is also no brake controller so thats a sign I think, never was one plugged in that I can tell. so prolly just a daily driver and snow machine puller. pretty light duty.has a Rino bed liner in great shape. anyways.
any thoughts I want a stick had my trans in my 05 replaced 5000 miles agon and now starting to act ut shuttle shift and that stuff. mine went out at 60000 that sucks. so I was going to swap it out for a stick, but found this truck at the lot. good price for up here. Im thinking of doing it.

Check the firewall and see if its been drilled. Velcro on the fuze box is also a sign.

What's a cummins brake?

Red is rare, they don't make DRW 3500s after 07 in red anymore.

I'm in the same boat. I would love to find a manual truck to replace my auto. Just curious, is it a 3500 SRW or DRW? I think if it is in good shape, and you can live with the color; I would go for it. It sounds like a nice truck, and being that it is an '03 it should give a little better mileage than your '05 since the '03 and early '04 models seem to deliver the best mileage. The fact that it already has an exhaust brake is a nice bonus.

It's the factory option from cummins and dodge at the time it says right on it
Cummins brake it is integrated ,when you pull on the shifter mounted switch it comes on but when you add gas it shuts off untill you let off again pretty smooth too. I think it's actually made by Jacobs.

it's a swr..

Have a buddy with an 03 6sp HO. Has about 120k on it now, bought it last year with 80k mi.
Truck has needed a lift pump (warranty, but he didn't take the Edge off of it, so no warranty, and they didn't do the in tank upgrade), 1 injector (again before 100k, but he's a young kid and just put 6 new 100hp sticks in it instead of 1 warranty injector ), and an APPS.
Truck has been flawless other than that.

Sounds good. Post some pictures of the new rig when you get a chance.

Painted for appearance definately!
Keep them black for durability. Gravel will take the paint off the fender flares just as fast as the fenders themselves.

I wouldn't bother painting the flares either. Did you check & see if there were any stored codes with the key cycle? Does the lift pump look like the original? If so I would pack a spare, because with over 80,000 miles it's living on borrowed time. I went from an 01.5 auto which I had the full meal deal rebuild from DTT at 16,000 miles do to heavy towing to an 05 3500 DRW six speed. Have fun with your new to you six shooter.
