coming to the dark side soon

ive had 2 dodge trucks in the past...a 97 and my current 05 hemi but im ready to come over to the dark side. im no stranger to diesel power in that my dad has had 4 of them over the past 15 years and swears he will never buy another gasser, but i do have a few quick questions.

im gonna be looking to pick up an 05/06 laramie 2500 4x4 qc/sb with an automatic....what should i be looking to pay for one of these? i live in a small town and the nearest big city is 3 hours away so our local dealership would have to be doing the work to get one here. is there anything i need to watch out for on those years?

and just a quicky...my old man has an 03 HO thats all stock other than an edge ez and hes running 295 toyo MTs...whats it gonna take to show him whos boss if im running 35s or 37s?

Larmie 06 will probably be around $31k... just going to depend on milage. Seems that prices have gone up since all this new 07 emissions junk.

You'll soon realize - the diesel side is the side of the light. Most certainly not the dark side.

"whats it gonna take to show him whos boss id im running 35s or 37s..."

Forget it man - your Dad will always be The Boss. Sooner you accept that, the sooner you can get on with important things in life.

Seriously, the '05 auto will not allow you lock out OD unless you get a flash from the dealer. If you do that, your tow/haul function will be lost. Just based on that, I would get an '06.

Smarty with 35s should keep you ahead of dad. 37's......I don't know about that.

I would definitely recommend going with the 2006. If you are getting a truck that is a year old you might as well go for a new one. This way, you are the first owner, and you know exactly what has and has not been done. I hate buying used vehicles, you never know what problems you are going to inherit from the previous owner! I bought my 2006 CTD last October and I love it, no problems at this point, Just getting ready to hit 20k miles already...they sure go fast when you enjoy driving a truck like this! Good luck!

Fla i agree with you on the whole one year old you should go new thing but i am really set on a 5.9 add that to some options that i really want and i just dont think there is any new 07s out there like that still. thats the main reason ive been thinking of going with an 06 instead of brand new.

I hear ya, I wouldn't want a 07 either. Don't like the extra emissions crap they have put on the 07s!

3 hours away is not bad to get a better deal. Just remember the dealer in your "Small" town is going to add a fee (wheather you see it or not) to get the truck brought to you. I have a friend who has driven 20 hours round trip for his last 3 Dodges because of the deal he was getting. Trust me and just have everything ready and then make the short drive and save the cash!!
