Clunk/rattle in the brake pedal
Clunk/rattle in the brake pedal
Hey gang,
I have had a rattling feeling in the brake pedal and lightly in the steering wheel for about 10kmi now. I took it into the dealer 3kmi ago and told him of the problem. They said the truck needed new ball joints. I didn't think so, but they insisted that was the problem. I took the truck home and it felt the same way as it did when I took it there. It seems to be getting worse over time and I am coming up on the end of the warranty period. I want to make sure they get it right this time.
I have had many problems with intermediate steering shafts in my Chevy's (one of the reasons I switched). This feels like a similar problem, but the feeling is primarily in the pedal and not in the steering wheel. I did a search and it seems that not many have had the ISS problem and some have had steering box issues. Can any pin point this problem more accurately?
Thanks for the help.

Was driving me too crazy so I took it to the dealer and spoke directly with the tech. Drove around a little, couldn't feel it. Told him I thought it was the steering shaft, he said "they didn't tell me that". Jumped out and pushed up and down on the shaft and it clunked. I said... that's the sound and he went in to order the parts. Lots of slop in it. Just glad he found it at this point. Guess I will be dealing with the same problem I had with my Chevy's.
