Chevy 2500 gasser vs my Cummins

Got a buddy that just put a 416 stroker motor in his chevy 2500. He made like 590hp at the wheels without nitrous. He has I think a 150 shot on it also. Been thinking about going to the track and trying him. His truck weights a good 1000 to 1500 lbs lighter too.

Think I have a chance with my mods. My best time is 12.92 at 109mph.

Do it....but with each of you towing at least a 9000 lb trailer.

It's gonna be close. Depends on what kind of tranny he has, and how good he is at the track. Better try to lose some weight in your truck...

he is more than 1500 lbs lighter than you are. our motor alone weighs darn near 1100 lbs vs his gasser at about 550lbs, your front axle vs his independant (if his is 4x4). GM frame is lighter than ours.

he would have the 4l80e tranny in it being a 2500

I agree with up above.. That's a close call if his numbers are true, He's got a tight trans, and he knows how to launch... Is the chevy 2wd or 4wd ? If it's a 2 wheeler with meaty rubber in the back, I think I would stay away from that one..

You could always hook a tow strap between each truck and see what happens... You would not even have to put it in low range...

His is 4x4 with a built tranny. He also is running 315s but has added some gears. Both trucks are 4 door short bed.

Just to make sure you win, it might be time to bottle feed your truck.. it will shave that time down for ya....... I cant wait to see who wins, keep us posted and good luck..

I think that with 4wd and the big tires, he won't have enough torque to do it. Please give it a shot and let us know the results! This is a senario that I have always been verrrrry curious about. The nitrous might do it for him, but how will we know if you don't try?

How much lift does he have? Does the 150 shot of nitrous actually add 150 hp, or does that mean something else? I've never seen a full size, lifted, 4x4 gasser with enough power to go very fast and I've always wondered why. Maybe your friend has broke the rule. Anyway, I am on the edge of my seet to hear more about this. My ex boss had a 02 2500 chevy ccsb with the 8.1 and a six speed and we always argued about which of our trucks would be the fastest. I feel that anything he can do to his truck, I can always do somehting more with my deisel, and I'll always have twice the torque. If and when you race this guy, do it once empty, then do it again with enough weight in his bed to even up with your weight and check the results.

I personally think you'll walk away from him. I would pretty much put money on it. Never seen one run that fast to be honest. Even the "hight HP" ones. My brother in law has I believe a 2001 8.1 with the Whipple (I think) supercharger....nothing at the track. Give it a shot and video it. We WANT to see.
