Charging / Power problem

I have a 2006 with about 17K miles. When I start the truck, my lights go bright then dim, bright then dim. The heater is on high and high then goes lower then high then lower.
It doesn't stop until I actually put it in gear and start driving.

Do I have a problem with the altenator or problem with my battery connections. I worry about this being hard on the truck. My buddy was with me hunting for the weekend and he too said that he didn't think this was normal...

Any ideas?

nope there's a sticky on this, it's just your grid heaters cycling, it's suposed to do that, worry if it stops doing it.
