CB mounting idea's

Just order a Cobra 29 BT NW WX CB Radio with duel 4 foot Firesticks and I need to figure out where the heck I'm going to mount the darn thing. Any ideas would be appreciated. I was thinking about the dash but I don't feel like drilling holes into it.

you could always put it on the floor, but that takes up your floor space.
you can also put it right behind your seat, or under it.
or....on part of the "dash" down by your legs, like right where you put the parking break on.
ive been trying to figure out where to put TWO radios in my truck, so im right with ya there bud

I've got 2 radios, piggybacked, on a seat back mount. The power supply is on a lighter plug, and the antennas are mag-mount. Makes it easy to transfer, and keeps the radios out of the way.http://dodgeram.org/ki4cy/ramradio/radio_mt.htmFound this for ideas

Those are awesome, but I've got the SLT and it says non-sport package.

thats pretty clean. does it mess with your leg while drivin? i gotta put two radios in my truck, and one will probably go either behind or under the seat. the other is the big question. under the dash seems to be pretty popular

I began the installation of my VHF/UHF Transciever (Amateur Radio) today. Antenna mounted on the front of the Hauler Bed. Then began looking for a place to mount the Radio itself.

My Radio has a detachable Face Plate (Head), so I can mount the Body of the Radio anywhere within 10 feet of the Head. I have the Laramie with Bucket Seats and the large Center Console. My thoughts were to mount the Body either under the drivers seat, or on the rear of the Center Console.

Then I stumbled on an outstanding thing. When I removed the rear of the Center Console to gain access to the 12 VDC for the rear Accessory Connector, I discovered that there is more than adequate room to put the Radio Body inside the Center Console on the floor.

Wala, just the Radio Head on the lower dash, and everything else out of site and out of the way.

Thought I'd mention this for anyone that is installing a CB with the controls in the Mic. You can mount the Radio Body completely out of the way, yet close to where you route the Mic Cord.

For what it's worth here is what I did in my truck. I only use the CB on long trips. I don't know your seat configuration but you wanted ideas.

Thats how I had it on my '01, I built a special bracket that bolted to the seat mount for the radio to screw onto.

Unfortunately with the 6spd manual that wasn't possible. Mounted on the dash in front of my knee works well, I don't hit my knee on it at all. I do smack my knee on the brake controller on the left side occasionally if I swing my knees out wrong. I should have mounted it higher.

Geno's has a kit that will bolt to the middle seat bracket and hug front of the seat. thats where i have mine, you loose the middle seat but it beats drilling holes in your dash or loosing leg room. plus where clayH mounted his, my trailer brake is there.

Sorry, the seat back mount I was talking about is a sheet of metal, with 2 90* bends in it. I will take a pic when I get my camera back. The alternative, if ASCII pics don't offend anyone, looks something like this:

The radios mount on the long side, with the face plates pointing up. The lip hangs the radios on the passenger seat back, on either side, depending on passenger or not.

That mount is SOOO easy to build. I built mine out of a piece of scrap metal in under 30min. However is only works if you have an auto.....
