Camper Top Is Back On.........
Camper Top Is Back On.........
I removed the cap about 2 months ago, so I could have the bed sprayed with Line-X.
I reinstalled the cap, using some very nice, high density neoprene rubber camper top single sided adhesive strips. The foam tape that was on the truck, was "lazily" applied to the bed rails, so removal was messy and time consuming. I applied this high density rubber tape to the cap itself, so when/if I reomve the cap, it will look great and not be a hassle.
I was shocked how expensive it was, but it was well worth it and 100% better than the typically used low grade foam tape. I paid $55 for two rolls.
I then thought...........hmm...........those camper top clamps look odd and bulky. So I went and bought some stainless steel bolts, washers, and nuts.
I drilled 4 holes in the cap's mounting rails and also 4 holes in the rails of the truck's bed (please don't sigh too much!).
It sealed up very tight and looks GREAT!
I then bought a nice powdercoated ratcheting cargo bar and a set of the Bully Stainless Steel Cargo Tie Downs. These are great and perfect for those of us with camper tops, who need some very secure tie down locations.

Lastly, I found a large ammo can that I cleaned up and secured to the bed's passenger side factory tie down location, with a wide ratchet strap. I think I may want to bolt it down to the bed, in the future. Inside this box I placed a large first aid kit, one pair of insulated leather/canvas work gloves, one 20 foot tow strap, one 15 foot tow strap, 3 ratchet straps, and two screw-pin d-rings.
Will get some pics up shortly.........

If you are calling around asking for them, ask for the cans that hold the .50 cal or 25mm rounds. Those are the bigger ones that you want. I probably have 25 or more of those things, holding various items. Some of the benefits of enlisted service...lol
