Cab lights

I want to put some Recon smoked cab lights on the roof.

Does anyone here have these? How's the quality?

Any pics of these on a red truck?

I have them, they are ok. Back when I got mine, you had to spice the wires so it would work with their harness, but now they have plug and play, I think.
The bulbs that I got with the smoked lenses were yellow LED's, good bulbs, but I got some super whites from autoillumination.com, they are kinda expensive, but they are worth it. I had some from superbrightleds.com, and they burned out every 2 months.

Here's a pic, too bad it's not red.

Sorry I don't have any closer pics... I'll look and see if I have any...

Here's one a little closer in the daytime... Sorry, not the best, but it's what I got. I would go outside and take one for you, but my truck is 10,000 miles away...

I had two sets of them a couple of years ago. Every one of the first set leaked. Recon sent me another set and every one of them leaked. The reason I say I had two sets is because I sent all of them back to Recon at my expense to be tested. Supposedly they were to be redesigned but I never heard anything back from Recon. I had leaking issues with the factory ones. That is why I purchased the Recons. The 2006 model Rams had a new design with a separate base gasket. I purchased a set of these from my local Dodge dealer. Only one of these has developed a leak and had to be replaced. This is why my signature says "Just say no to cabmarker lights!". I cringe when somebody says they want to drill holes in their perfectly good roof to add cabmarker lights. I had no choice when I purchased my truck. All 3500s came with cabmarker lights.

Thanks for the pictures madhat. I am deciding on whether to go with those or the factory orange lights.

Jonesey, the wife has already told me I can't do it, so I have to now! She doesn't think they will look good so I have to prove her wrong... haha

I just installed some that were smoked w/ the amber lenses. I think they look awesome but the quality isn't all that great. They do have connectors now but they aren't worth a ****. I had to electrical tape all of the connectors to keep them from coming apart. Also note that since the bulbs are LED the connectors only work one way so be sure to double check the connection before you put the headliner back up. Also be careful drilling, the roof dents very easy if you push too hard.

I got them I love the way they look but there customer service is horrible ill never buy a recon product again. Mine came with some leds the shop that installed my lights couldnt get any of the leds to work so I tested them all bad and I emailed them for months and finally sent a nasty one and they finally replyed and said they wouldnt send me any more bulbs. So I gotta find some white leds that will work somewere on line casue I think the white will look really neat. but good luck

Best way to install recon leds is to hardwire them in, don't use the connectors. Mine have been flawless for over a year now. The plugs are junk thats for sure.

I know I'm second gen, but I have the smoked cab markers as well. No leaks, but I have a problem with them humming at about 95+ mph. Anyone else experience this?

Those first pictures are from the old style.
The new ones are a true LED with circuit design. Got my 2nd set from Recon, replaced the older model. These are almost all black unlike the older design.
Call them and tell them you are upgrading from their old design. They will give you a coupon number to use online and recieve 20% off.
