A/c Help Please!!!!

On my 04.5 i have been having trouble with the A/C. I thought at first it was the freeon level so i bought a can and after putting it in the truck the guage read fine. This is my problem....when i'm driving for a period of time with the A/C on high it will start to blow slower and slower until it's just a trickle of air coming out. I'll turn the A/C **** off then back on and then i get absolutely nothing out for several minutes. There is no set time but eventually the A/C will kick back on high and blow like it should for another 30 minutes to an hour then again kick back off.

I have read about the ignition switch, the blower motor and the door that is inside. i'm wondering does my problem fit any of the possible problems listed above. i'd like to fix it myself without taking it to a shop. Please any help is appreciated....it sucks in 95+ heat when the A/C decides to stop working for a while.

Sounds like your evaporator is freezing up and no air can get through. You can hurry up the thawing process by turning off the compressor and leaving the fan running until it thaws out. You need to find out where the freon leak is in your system and get it fixed. Make sure that you use an a/c machine when recharging and not just a set of gauges. You need to know how much freon you put in. This means that you most likely can not do it yourself. The freon level in the a/c systems on these trucks is critical to get good cooling. There is a lot of info here on the a/c problems.

Same thing was happening to me last week and a 16 oz can of freon fixed it. Its most likely a temporary fix due to a slow leak but its never been charged since new so hopefully its fixed till at least next summer. The little gauges that come with the cans are no good, so its hard to tell how low you are with out a set of gauges.
