Question A/C fan seems weak

Do any of you guys (or gals) with a mega cab notice that the a/c doesn't blow very strong. The fan makes a lot of noise but doesn't move much air.
It does get cool after a few minutes (7 to 10 or so, I know, it's a big cab, and it's 97 degrees out) but it doesn't have much fan power, not a lot of air moving thru the vents. Is this "normal" ???

Try closing the rear vents. They don't close completely, but it helps a little.

Tried that....to some degree, yes.
So, you think the a/c fan on your mega cab seems a little weak?

yeah, but here in AZ they all seem weak at 110 degrees. I complained one time and they turned up the pressure to make it colder, but that doesn't affect the blower.

Yep, I just bought my Megacab, and the A/C is about a useless as on a boar. With the A/C on high, you can only feel it blowing about 6 inches from the vents, and its so loud that you cannot hold a normal coversation. Not to mention that it blow semi-cool air. Even after a compressor change???? Pretty worthless. By the time I get home, my clothes are dripping with sweat. I think I made a mistake with this truck!!! Can I have my dually back??????????????

I have noticed it on my '03 2500. It usually blows pretty good, but sometimes on a semi-long trip(2.5 hours) it seems to weaken even more. I have a regualr Quad Cab, and even that takes some time to cool down.

I have the same problem on my 03 QC. The dealer is replacing some part (I forgot the exact name) on friday. I was having the same problem on my way home from the coast 2 weeks ago. No A/C and a sunburn don't mix at all.

I have a problem where that happens the goes away. I think one of the internal vent deflectors gets stuck and unstuck. It normally blows very hard and loud on high recirculate. When it get's stuck it's very loud with little air movement. I'd check someone elses truck just to be sure.

Low Flow

My system gave signs of very low flow in any combination of heat/ac and vent/defrost/floor and recirc/fresh. I had about the same flow on low fan as I did on High fan.

Turns out the Recirc door broke off at the recirc door motor and fell onto the intake of the fan blocking ~90% of the flow (guessing on the % here).

I replaced the door myself which was a full days work in my driveway. It broke a second time about 4 months later and I "fixed" it in two minutes (literally). My system no longer has a recirc door and works well .

I had the same problem with my mega. Tinting the windows helped quite a bit, but with temps in the 90's it still takes a little while to cool.

Weak A/C in Mega Cab

I have new '06 Mega Cab. It is disaster. I am in South Texas HEAT and the a/c does not cool it. Local service manager said he could not fix it, "It is a engineering & design flaw"?!!!??? Factory rep is a jerk! I tried to return truck with 320 miles on it. They refused. The unit puts out cool air, we measured 45 degrees coming out of the middle vents,...but it is only a whisper of air! It is not enough to cool the huge cab. We put thermometer hanging from driver side visor. AFTER 30 MINUTES OF DRIVING,... WITH A/C ON HIGH,.....IT READ AND INCREDIBLE 97 DEGREES!!!!!
If you are having similar problem, please email me : research@mydodgemegacab.com and visit http://www.mydodgemegacab.com

Factory rep claims the a/c produces 45 degree air and therefore is functioning properly. It does not mean anything to him that the cab is 97 degrees!!!! as long as the whisper of air is cool.

Thumbs up Mega no a/c

What an imbecile!
That factory rep should go back to scamming senior citizen's out of their Luby's money. On second thought, he's perfect for Ford's diesel program ... that reminds me - I've seen Fords blow smoke out of the a/c vents it was so cold - that must be a heck of a compressor

so why dont you guys rip your ducting out and take a look? cant be to hard to fix. you probably have the same fan as my 06 quad cab Which blows cold and hard! there is obviously something blocking flow. open it up and take a look and get in there with some tin snips and fix it.... then post what you did so that all will know
