A/C Clunk

I get a loud clunk when I turn on the A/C in the morning. It happens only once a day. This just started a few days ago. When it first happened my wife looked over at me so it is very noticeable. Just turning 13,000 miles. Anyone else experience this noise?

I have it too. My buddies Z-71 does it also so I guess it is somewhat normal.

Mine does it too, first time in the morning, after that it's quieter, but still noticeable.

It has something to do with the head pressure. My truck did it so bad it tore the receiver/dryer off of the fenderwell. Still works though......

Mine does it and I'm not happy. My tahoe did the same thing, and then at 90k or so the ac compressor pooped out, and shortly later the blower motor. I didn't use it that often but always cycled and ran it every week or two to keep things going... So I'm afraid maybe the thump is an early indicator of a disaster waiting to happen. I'm not really that familiar with ac components, so I hope someone has some input on what the noise actually is, etc. Has anyone brought this to the dealers's attention?

If anyone brings this up to a dealer , let us know. I'd be interested to hear if they fix anything or deem it normal.

I haven't bothered to take it to the Dealer yet for this, and maybe I'm going out on a limb here, but somehow I just know that first they'll tell me they've never heard of this problem before, followed by the old standby, "they all do that, you just need to understand it's a truck, not a luxury car"

On second thought, maybe I won't bother taking it to the Dealer.

I guess it is normal if everyones truck seems to do it. I'm not going to sweat it but I will email my tech and see if he can give us a reason.

Ok. He said there are plastic vent doors in the circulation system that are controlled by electric servos. That noise is the vent opening or closing, its totally normal assuming this is the noise you are hearing..

I have a theory. Is the noise coming from the slack adjuster on the belt from the sudden surge of drag?
