Re:buy back

What was the problem with the '03 and how hard was it to get Dodge to do a buy back?

Re:buy back

Well deje when you shop for a replacement, take it for a looooong test drive and then look underneath before signing on the dotted line
Chances are the 2nd one will be a huge improvement.

I see you are in Washington State, might check out www.nwbombers.com too.

Re:buy back

I just picked up my check a few days ago. They bought mine back also. I had quite a few problems with the transmission. It had an '03, one of the first ones, so it had the old 47re trans in it. I actually had horrible luck with the dealers trying to fix it, then once I sent in the card for the lemon law in the glove box to DC, it went very easy and smooth. Unfortunately that was the first good service that I had with DC! I am not sure if I am going to buy another one or not. I have heard of too many problems with the ford and chevy also. It seems like a roll of the dice!

Re:buy back

I think this situation is fairly unusual....even though we rant and rave about "major" problems on this site and others - in reality, there are very few problems with the Cummins when compared to the other big two.

Find a real low milage 2002 or older and life will be good.....

Re:buy back

I'm amazed to hear these horrow stories in that I'm at 8200 miles and things have been perfect. Love the truck. Glad that I bought extended warrantee however, but just hope I don't have to fight any battles with the dealer. Again, so far, perfect.

Re:buy back

Keep in mind that the number of people that are members of this site, vs the number of actual owners is like a grain of sand on the beach.

DC does make some lemons and yes it can be a bear, depending on the dealer, to get it fixed or bought back. But I truely believe that by and large they make a pretty good product. I have owned 7 CTDs and other than one tranny rebuild, have not had any trouble. THe odd problems I did have the dealer resolved immeadiately.

I have now had two 03's. 1st one had the dreaded vibration at 2000rpm. But that virtually disappeared with time. #2 has zero problems. Have never taken either back to the dealer.

2 cents

Re:buy back

I got tired of dealing with Ford so I know own what I should have started with ;D. From what I have seen they are all a pain if you have a bad vehicle . My Dodge dealer has been good to me so far and the truck has only had one minor problem. For what they cost you should get the red carpet treatment if you have trouble with one. Any way good luck on number two.

Re:buy back

So far so good. The only thing I know is that my Dodge dealer treats me much better than the Chebby dealer ever did. I had major oil leak issues with my chebby, it was in the shop 6 times for the same oil leak. I finally gave up on those guys and fixed it myself. I just hope if I ever need them Dodge will be better than that.
