Bumper soot problems?

Just thought I'd share this one. I was cleaning the bumper yet again from the soot (after installing a turn down tip) hopefully for the last time. Well its been a while so it was pretty bad, goo gone and towels...marginal, gray plastic scrubbing pad...better, but left scratches and still left the really stubborn stuff, getting desperate... tried No.7 white polishing compound (hoping to minimize the scratches) and it took all the soot off with very little effort. I don't know if using this product has been brought up before but it seemed to work just as well on the bottom of the bumper (where I hadn't cleaned with the other steps first) without a lot of elbow grease or the hazard of scratching etc.

i JUST USE SIMPLE-GREEN CLEANER IN A SPRAY BOTTLE AND A SOFT RAG TO CLEAN THE SOOT OFF THE TOP REAR PORTION OF MY 6" POLISHED STAINLESS STACKS. I DON'T WAN'T TO SCRATCH THEM WITH A SCRUBBING PAD LIKE AN SOS TYPE THING SO USING A PLASTIC SCRUB PAD AND S.G. WORKS WONDERS IN REMOVING SOOT EASILY. IT ALMOST MELTS OFF. TRY IT NEXT TIME.

Man it's loud in here!

As far as the dirty rear bumper goes, you do know, don't you, that the rear bumper is the early version of the DPF. It catches some of the soot on the way by. Think of all you are doing for clean air!

I used to clean mine with Windex and a paper towel before I ran the exhaust out the side like it should be. Now I have to clean the right rear wheel sometimes.

Spray Nine works wonders as well. Takes it right off.

I spray 50/50 Simple Green / water on mine when I'm washing the truck. Let it soak for a few minutes - but don't let it dry - and wipe it off. I never scrub. If you do it every week it's easy. If it's really bad, you may have to repeat the process.

I just cleaned mine with Turtle Wax chrome polish. (It's the same as white polishing compound.)
