These were taken a few months ago it doesn't look that bad as it does today. Maybe I'll snap another pic today to show how many rust spots there are and how the powder coat is flaking off.

Bumper was put on in summer of 2006 so it hasn't seen that much use, IMO.

I love the concept and strength of this bumper .... but the powder coat just stinks for durability. Probably be the same for other mfg if they use powder coat.

(look in my gallery - link below - for higher res pics)
the black powder coat on my RA is holding up very well.
if you're concerned about the powder coat, you can always order it raw and have it line-xed.

It depends on how old your bumper is.... the new ones arent the older ones are.... to be honest, it really doesnt affect the strength much, its just a aestetics thing

I've got the Buckstop Baja with an extra bar welded across the main hoop. I really like the way it turned out. The bumper is very stout and matches the truck really well. I can't go anywhere without having someone ask me about it. As far as the powdercoating goes, I've had lots of powdercoated Jeep bumpers and it seems the powerdercoating on the Buckstop is some of the best I've seen. I've only had mine about 6 months but it still looks brand new. The install was easy as long as you have a nice floor jack and some friends to help pick it up. Shipping weight was around 315 lbs.

Does anyone know if the Buckstop is a simple bolt-on or is there any welding needed to mount?

Thanks

The buckstop bumpers are a simple bolt on. There is no welding involved. The bumper mounts to the factory tow hook mounts right at the end of the frame. If you want to reuse the entire factory tow hook mount to mount the bumper (which I highly recommend) you have to notch out a small piece of the factory mounting bracket with a port-a-band or a sawzall then beat it flat. I wish I had a picture to explain this, but basically it's an easy bolt on. Took me about 3 hours to remove factory bumper and install new one.

Buckstop is a simple bolt-on, but its heavy. I used a 512 which made it pretty easy. I guess two people could do it but it would be a PITA.

9 weeks, thats fast!

RA shippped mine, realized they foregot the receiver, had it shipped back and added the receiver, re-applied the crappy powdercoat, and 3+ months later it was finally installed. Shortly thereafter it was already chipped and rusting, i bent a mounting bracket while winching, and my lower balljoints are smoked. but it was all worth it when that poor deer got in the way that 1 night....

yah, added weight of the bumper with the winch really seems to hammer on the lower ball joints. Few thousand miles with the bumper and they were shot.
