no, but I think the same amount of force that will pull out a 1/2" bolt would also do some considerable damage to welds.

I honestly think this is a non issue. But everyone finds things they want to dig on about stuff. There are many many posts and information sites on the web about the strength of bolts vs welds.

Buckstop

I also think it's not an issue. There are four 1/2" bolts holding the gaurd on the bumper. I would hate to see what you would have to hit to break those bolts. It is the brush guard part of the bumper, it would have to be some big brush.

I've had the bumper on over a year now and still very pleased with it.

It works the same as the stock bumper setup...at least my aftermarket bumpers do.

Our truck frames are tubular in design, and the bumper bolt holes have spacers running inside the frame rail to keep it from being crushed when tightening the bumper bolts.

Yes, the bumper bolts up at the stock location, but the brush gaurd is mounted to the bumper with four 1/2" bolts.

bolt vs weld....... long story same answer. They are both good, they are both bad.

this discussion could go on forever...........

If you want it welded, call them and ask if they will do it. If they wont, there is your decision.

If you hit something or something hits you hard enough to junk the bolt on stuff it's going to cost you your insurance deductable max to get it fixed. Wouldn't matter to me.
