Brakes
Anyone have any idea aprox. how many miles under normal driving conditions and light towing (8000#'s 4 or 5 times a year) a set of factory brakes pads should last? Do they have wear indicators?

They will have wear indicators. I call them squealers it's a small piece of spring steel that will rub the rotor and squeel when the BRAKES are applied.

You said breaks your thinking brakes.

my '01 2500 auto with a exhaust brake had 125000+ miles before turning the rotars and pad relacement. My present truck, see sig, has 60000 + miles and are about half gone.

I changed mine last week got 65000 (auto) out of them but probably should have changed them at 60000 My squealer didnt squeal very long and they were cash out so when that noise starts dont wait change them

Lockout your OD in the city, or even put it in 2nd. Seems to help save on brake pads.

mine have 28k on them and are like new. never get any brake dust on the wheels either. that ebrake is the greatest thing for saving brakes.

Lockout your OD in the city, or even put it in 2nd. Seems to help save on brake pads.
I'll give it a shot. Won't wear on the 48re? Brake pads are cheap in comparison!
