is brass used for fuel fittings?
Brass sparks, but diesel doesn't catch very easy.
In the refineries we do not use brass but that is for the more volatile hydrocarbons. For some reason on automobiles they use brass.
Stainless steel is best, for many reasons including less likely to cause a spark. I use nothing but SS for fittings, it doesn't cost that much more for what you get. JMHO

Brass is a Non-Ferrous Material which dose not spark..... Stainless is also Non-Ferrous but will have a tendency to spark if struck hard enought. On US Navy Ships the JP-5 Fuel System which is similar to Diesel Fuel Non-Ferrous fittings are used.
