Thumbs up Brakes work great!

Some (drunken) fool started to run a stop then saw me and paused only to jump out a couple lengths in front of me and then came to a full stop spanning both lanes.

I had slowed by now. But still had to slam on my brakes from about 40. The truck just stops.

I had not had a chance to really test the brakes yet in 600 miles. On my terms would have been my first choice. These brakes work almost as well as those on my bike. Which is good as they tend to spoil one.

I have to agree with you. I love the brakes on this truck!!! After driving sports cars in the past, i'm not the slightest bit disappointed.

Yep, I can confidently say that the 13.9" rotors on our 3rd gen rigs will own just about any other truck's brakes (and lots of cars) on the road.

The rotors on my '03 1500 hemi were replaced under warranty at 7,000 miles. Badly warped. Took the dealer two weeks to get the replacements. He's in Key West, a LONG way from the Detroit parts warehouse. I sure hope my new 2500 doesn't have the same problem.

My way to work for the first time with my new truck, about 100 miles on it. I had to lock'm up. Two deer standing in the middle of the road. They never moved until I came to a halt, less then ten feet for the first one. I could only see it's head over the hood.
The truck just stopped. It went from 40 to 0, with no twist, buckle, bounce, or any thing else. It just stopped.

Sweet!!

These brakes are so good that I put them on my '80 Corvette.

Yes, I put them on my Vette. A company called Hydratech sells the Hydraboost brake set up to go on performance cars. The whole system plumbing and all runs about $500 for the complete set up.

Ford also installed this set up on the new Boss Mustang as did GM on the Grand National Buick Turbo Intercooled V6 back in '87.

I was under my truck the other day and was looking at all the innovations Mopar has put into the new Ram. The Rack & Pinon Steering, Hydraboost Brakes, (Originated with the Diesels) Four Wheel Disc Brakes (Corvette) ABS and many other things that really make a safer and more enjoyable vehicle to drive.

My 1 ton Quad Cab Ram drives and handles as good as any vehicle and rides better than most that I have ever owned.

I really like my RAM, Jim

The brakes in the 2500 and 3500 are quite different from the 1500. Here are some quick specs:

Rear: 13.8 x 0.87 (352 x 22) disc with 2.13 (54) single-piston pin-slider caliper and ABS. 274 sq. in. (1768 sq cm) - largest in the class according to Chrysler.

2500 and 3500:

Front: 13.9 x 1.26 vented disc with 2.20 two-piston sliding caliper and ABS; swept Area: 313.2 sq. in. (2021 sq cm)

Rear: 13.9 x 1.18 (352.5 x 30) disc with 1.77 (45) two-piston sliding caliper and ABS. Swept Area: 309.6 sq. in. (1997 sq cm) 309.6 sq. in. (1997 sq cm)
