Bigger tires on 2008 Ram 2500HD Diesel

Hey guys (and gals)!
Quick question concerning putting larger tires on my truck.

Here's what i want:
BFG 315/70/17 on my stock wheels:
WILL THIS WORK WITHOUT RUBBING?????

OPTION 2:
BFG 315/70/17 on the following wheels:
XD797 Spy/Black with -12mm offset.

If anyone has experience with this size tire and/or with this style rim, your information would be greatly appreciated.

I DO NOT want to lift the truck!

Thanks

Mike

The 315's will rub the control arms a little at full lock but I don't mind. I don't know how much your 08 is different from my 03 at the wheel wells though.

Thanks Billie!

I'm curious though if the new wheels with -12mm offset will correct this or then have a problem with rubbing on fender wells?

When you say no lift, is a leveling kit out of the question.

If you were to put a two inch leveling kit those tires should fit fine.

I guess that would do fine! Just really wanted to stay away from a full lift kit. So school me on this leveling kit if you don't mind.
How much does that cost and is it user installed?
Preferred mfg that you have used?
And the wife is looking over my shoulder saying....."Your not gonna raise your truck are you?"

Thanks for all of your advice

I ran 315/70/17 BFG A/Ts on XD Hoss wheels with the 5.7 bs on my stock lift for a couple days and I don't remember it rubbing at all, I was suprised actually that it didn't is what I remember. This including cutting through a ditch or 2.

With the stock wheels they'll hit the control arms at full lock I've been told no matter the lift. I think the BS on the wheels you want is like +18 but don't quote me on that, I just know the inches, something like 5.71 and I think stock is around 6.

Hope that helps. Wish I had pics with them on the stock lift to show you but I don't.

I say try it and lift it if you have problems. Maybe try a 1 inch spacer up front? Would look pretty mean IMO.

I think 305's are as large as you can go on a stock truck and not rub.

Went ahead and ordered the XD's at 17x9 with -12mm offset and 5.7bs (Whatever bs stands for) and going to try the 315's tomorrow. If that don't work then well, maybe back down to the 285's!

bigger tires

I have the BFG A/T 315's and H2 rims and have no issues with the stock height. They would rub the control arms at full lock with the stock rims but not bad.

OK, for those that have helped me......many thanks.
Here's the update........
Purchased the KMC - XD797 Spy/Black with -12mm offset and 4.3 BS.

First i put one 315/70/17 on front and at 1/2 turn, the back edge of tire hit the outer fender well!

***THOUGHT***
Maybe if i had a +12mm offset then it would have cleared however would have then hit the arm on inside?

Went down to 285/70/17 and all cleared fine with 1/2" spare in back and about 3/4" clear in front off of fender wells.

Since i'm new to DTR i have not yet figured out how to post pics so i have some once i figure it out and if anyone is interested!

Thanks again!

Next forum question:
Which Smarty do i need?

Just as a warning ,from reading this forum it seems that BFG 315s are quite often linked to D W problems.
