Thumbs up BFG Rugged Trails

Wow is all I can say about this tire! These came factory on Dad's 04.5. They went 81,000 miles of towing 6,000 lbs all summer, snowplowing, commuting to work, and driving rough logging roads back to the cabin. He finally broke down and got some fresh rubber before the snow flies again, they weren't quite down to the wear bars yet but it would have made plowing difficuilt. Needless to say he went with the same tire for his replacements. $740 for 4 tires mouned up and balanced and out the door. Not too bad at all for an 81,000 mile tire that gets the job done in all weather and road conditions. I am beyond impressed with this tire! Just figured some folks would be interested in this if your stock rubber is wearing out.

Crimedog, I could not agree more. I have 34k on mine right now and expect them to go double that and more. Probably 10k of that has been towing our 5th wheel. I plan on going back with the same tires when I replace these and probably stay with stock size since I tow a lot.

I have been pleased with mine so far. I have almost 28,000 miles on mine now with no problems. I rotate them every 10,000 miles, so that will hopefully help them. I have noticed with them they are a bit slippery on wet roads however. I think my next set will be Pirelli Scorpion ATR's. They seem to be great in the wet.

I took mine off as soon as I got the truck, put leveling kit and 315s on. I sold them to a friend of mine for $200 bucks. He has a 2003 Ram 1500 SC SWB truck he uses for hot shots. He got 102,000 miles out of the tires. I would never have believed it.

Festus, not joking at all! I forgot to add that these tires were rotated twice, yes... twice in there lifetime. Once we rotated and balanced them and then when I did brakes I figured as long as they were off I'd rotate them. Every single one is as square across the tread as you'll ever see. He's got two bad ball joints right now, I don't know how long they've been bad but the tires don't show it!

We had those on two of our lease work trucks and they were awesome!
Trying to talk the wife into letting me swap out our Michalins for a set.

Do you have any idea what kind of pressure he kept in the tires?

I friggen HATE these tires, but as far as oem, "on the truck when I rolled it off the lot", they are adequate. They are BRUTAL in snow, which is actually kinda fun 92% of the time. The other 8% of the time on ice and snow you are clenching your sphincter and/or praying to Allah.

Friend with a 03 f350 6.0l did 10 grand damage to his truck last year and if he wouldn't have had nerf bars it would have been a complete write-off. This was at 40000km with TONS of tread left. He made the bodyshop bring it to the tiredealership for new tires before he took delivery thats what kind of confidence he had in them. and hell we didn't even really get winter last year.

If you are getting that many miles out of them, 1 of 2 things, you are running bone stock, or you don't know how to have fun.

I've got 30K on mine and they are 3/4 gone. I drive 50 miles RT everyday, 30of which are severe mountain switchbacks (many, many, many turns in the 30 miles!). One started to wear badly on the outside edge and it is not out of alignment or balance

Well, Dad's truck is bone stock, basically in the summer it's hooked to a landscape trailer and in the winter it gets him to work everyday unless it snows. I've driven her a few times in the snow with half tread and didn't mind them one bit. Then again, there was 1,000 lb of plow hanging off the front and another 1000 lbs of sandbags in the rear... For a stock truck that works hard, these tires work great for us.

The few times I get to drive his truck I take it as my personal responsibility to burn some carbon out and clean the injectors
