Best way to carry and dispense Fuel Treatment from Truck?

I've been experimenting with both Stanadyne and Power Service fuel treatments to see what I like best.

One obvious advantage of the Stanadyne is they offer the "one shot" bottles which treat up to 30 gallons. This works out great because the bottle stays sealed while in the truck and I throw it away at the filling station when I'm done.

The power service bottle is enough for 3 tankfulls which means you have to carry an "unsealed" bottle in the truck AND try to dispense the correct amount the first two times from a bottle. Yes it has a measuring device on the side of the bottle, but it is a hassle and leaves more opportunity for spilling and then ending up inside the truck somewhere.

Thoughts?

TIA

I have a tool box I keep all my straps/spare fluids/hitch, etc in, so I dont have to worry about having it in the truck.

Id try to find a decent small tool box that might fit under the seat, that seals well, and maybe split the larger power service into smaller containers you can seal(small drink water bottles?)

BTW, which one has worked out for you better, and price wise what was better? Whered you buy it?

Im going to start running either of those two, due to the low sulfur diesel hitting the pumps....

I've been keeping mine in a plastic bin in the bed of my truck. I have a cap so it keeps it dry. But it is just an extra thing to do to have to put it back in the bed when I'm done (sometimes bed sticks out from station overhand when it's raining).

The only thing I can say that I THINK I've noticed is the engine runs slightly quieter with Power Service.

I also tried running a little bit of Marvel Mystery with the Stanadyne and that SEEMED to run about as quiet as the Power Service.

I got my Stanadyne from Scheid Diesel

http://www.scheiddiesel.com/index.htm

I ordered a case of "one shots" by Stanadyne which are VERY handy.

I've been trying Power Service mostly because you can find it pretty much anywhere (Wal-Mart, Autozone, etc.), and to see if I noticed a difference.

I think either one is a good product and you can't go wrong. It seems as long as your running something you should be good to go.

I had an empty Sta-Bil bottle, that has two parts - the small part lets you measure out an once at a time, so I can add the correct amount depending on how many gallons I just put in. So I just filled it with the PS and carry it in the tool bag in the truck bed. Works OK, is a little bit of a hassle, but I get the mix exactly right.

I think I'm going to try a different approach. I buy Techron for the cars, and it comes in smaller size bottles, with a long neck so it's easy to pour into the tank. I'm going to hang on to a few of those and put the PS in those. This doesn't handle the problem of measuring out the correct amount, but lets you do it in 8 or 16 oz increments.

In either case I rinse the bottles before I refill them, with a little bit of PS that I then toss out

I carry 1/2 liter bottled water in the truck in the cardboard beer bottle holders. In one slot I carry a pint bottle of Stanadyne, marked with lines into thirds with a Sharpie, as 1/3 of a bottle is good for 20 gallons, about my normal fill if I fill up at 1/4 tank. I tell the kids 'don't drink the fuel treatment as it's hard to find and kind of expensive' :^)

I use Marvel Mystery Oil bottles for my Power Service and TCW3 mixture. With the long spout makes it easy to pour into the tank.

I was using the Stanadyne and MMO (32oz bottles) mix for awhile, I have recently switched to PS and MMO mainly for the reason it is easier for me to locate PS locally. Anyway, I now buy my MMO and PS by the gallon. I premix it in the recycled 32oz MMO bottles and keep three of these at a time in the truck. In the drivers side storage comparment behind the rear seat, I fashioned, or wedged in a 2 inch thick piece of sponge rubber to create a divider. I leave that storage compartment cover open and they stand up fine there.

Wink

I use Stanadyne and found that Welches 10oz. juice bottles work real good. The caps seal good and they fit in the drivers side door compartment just right. eight bottles will acomodate a 64oz. bottle of Stanadyne. I use 8oz. per aprox 30 gal. of fuel. I just have to remember to put one in the truck when I go for fuel, and I carry several in a box when I travel.

I use a mixture of Power source and MMO. I mix them six at a time and put the bottles in Zip Lock bags, which I keep in my cross bed tool box. This has work perfectly so far. Not a single leak or mess.

Be carefull if you have a spray in liner. When I got my Line-X put in the guy said that fuel, gas, and oil will not bother it, but he has had some "melted" by diesel fuel tratments and pool chemicals. I use stanadyne by the case. I do not throw away the empty bottles and thus the full bottles stay upright in the case. Not all of the stanadyne bottles are sealed good from the factory.

Took three empty 20oz soda bottles and marked a 4oz line, then a 16oz line on the bottle. I fill up 4oz of MMO then fill the rest to 16oz with PS. I keep the bottles under the rear seat. I haven't had an issue yet, but the mixture did eat away the inside sealing piece after awhile. The caps still seal tight though without them. I may replace the bottles in the near future though.
