It is time to start shopping for new tires.
These stock BFG 265's leave a lotta wheelwell exposed, and its time to put on a larger set of shoes. Im looking for opinions on the best E rated tires out there, where I dont have to put on those flashy 20"-22" rims. I'd prefer to stay in the 17" range.
I realize that the larger I go, I should go a wider wheel, and I am ready to do that, for better wear patterns and stance. I think these stocks are currently 7"-7.5"?

Check out the Nitto Dura Grapplers. Thats what I'm getting put on Friday! Not a real aggressive off road tire, but looks to be able to get the job done for me! 285/70/17 E -rated - about 900 bucks on the rim, and out the door!
Before winter really gets going, I hope to have a new set on. I'm looking at the Toyo Open Country A/T's in LT285/75/17, they are E rated with a 3970 lbs weight rating!
I would have liked to go with BFG A/T's but the D rating, and not being as tall really turned me off. But I still have a set on the old '76 Power wagon.
I just hope I can talk the tire shop into letting me get the Toyo's in place of my cracked stockers.

It all depends on how you use your truck and what look your going for. There's so many different tires out there it's stupid
You can pretty much get most of the tires out there with an "E" rating for a few extra $
Procomp has the all-terain mud terrain and then the Xtreme At and Xtreme MT (I run the Xtreme Ats ) they look good-perform good (on and off road) - and they're relatively inexpensive - Also available from Procomp is the Cooper line which are supposed to be equally as good but are less $
Bfg offers the all-terrain and Mud terrain both equally good tires depending again on the use and the look you want.
The Nittos you typically see on dealer upgraded trucks 'cause they look a little flashier than the other tires. But I can say I have heard nothing good on the performance of theese though.
Then you get into the bigger $
Toyo speaks for itself with the Open country At and MT (KORE ran the Open country MT in the 1000 and didn't get 1 flat)
Goodyear offers the MTR if your looking for a more agggresive tread ( I can vouch for theese as well ) and I think it's the ATS in the all terain

My next choice will either be the Toyo 285/75 or the Nitto 305/70.
I had bad luck with 3 sets of BFG on 3 different trucks. The Procomp Xtreme A/Ts ran well on my last truck as did my Nitto Mud Terrains (range D). I have Nitto's on my current truck and they run great. Did well in the sand pushing an 8K pound trailer up into a lot and do very well on the road. <3 oz to balance them Vs >6 oz on all my BFG.
I have about 57K on the stock BFG's and they're just about done, and winter's coming... Well at least Missouri's version of winter.
