Ball joints or bearing or just normal wear?
I noticed the last time I had the truck up that I have about 1/8 to 1/4 inch of play (top to bottom) in the wheels. In otherwords with the wheel and tire attached tight to the hub I grab on the 12 and 6 O-Clock and wiggle....Very little play, but I am noticing some unusual wear on my front tires. The outer tread is cupping and wearing uneven from the rest of the tire.

Toe is out. Could be from the ball joints or bearings. When you grab that tire at the 12 and 6 again look around at the ball joints and see if there moving. If they are replace them. Just make sure you get grease-able joints and use LUCAS Extreme grease. Haven't wore out a joint yet that had LUCAS grease in it. Why, because its water resistant, water is what kills all joints that use grease.

I guess I will get her up off the ground again and look....I was just spit balling, but I guess I need to look harder into it. I priced it all up and with new front bushings (all of them), shocks, ball joints, alignment and tires.....3300.00 If I do the work. Then there is the Steering stabilizer (Shock) and the SBS (BD's unit).....man. It seems to add up on the front end quick. But right now I am worried that at highway speed I can move the steering about 2" in either direction and no movement from the truck!
